Touch screen doesn't work after USB repair

Postby matic_s » Sun Aug 16, 2015 10:15 am

I'am working on Xdroid tablet XP7902.
It was completely dead and it won't charge.
I was found broken micro USB port and the battery was completely discharged. The traces on the PCB for USB port was broken too.
I was disconnect battery and then replaced USB port and bridge 4 traces on PCB and now it working normally but touch screen doesn't work.
FFC cable for touch screen looks great and connector too.

Customer says the touch was working normally before they broke the USB port.
I think it can be something wrong with software, because the battery was completely discharged. I was noticed that little freezes when I power it on.
I want to do hard reset, so I go into system recovery mode but here are problem. I don't know how to move highlight.

This tablet don't have volume buttons, but only power button and back button.
With power button I can select the highlighted, but I can't move highlight to other options. The back button doesn't have function in this mode.

Any ideas?

It may work with touch. Have you checked touch screen's ribbon? maybe you've damaged it.

Yes, I checked it twice and it looks good. I was cleaned the contacts on the touch screen's ribbon with eraser and isopropyl alcohol, but no change.
Touch screen's ribbon connector on the main board also looks good.

I haven't got schematic, and I think it is impossible to get it...

Marking on the board is: INET-K90-REV01
Digitizer is: TYF1085V2

Thanks for replay.

I've seen some touch devices that have buggy touchscreens while charging. Unplug the charger and try it.

Try plugging in a keyboard if you've got an adapter, then do the restore that way.

Those ribbon cables can get hairline cracks in them from only a few mating cycles. Try holding it up to a bright light to check for cracks. They can be microscopic, so it will be very hard to diagnose without having known working parts on hand to test.

Same issue if it runs on battery.

I haven't got adapter for keyboard. I think it doesn't work on computer keyboard, because it is locked like on this picture. I don't know if it is possible to unlock it with keyboard.

I don't see any injuries in the digitizer FFC cable.

Thanks for replay.
