Never had a go at any type of bga work on a phone but for the on/off it could be the battery. Fixed one with a similar problem.

The news for Apple and the iPhone will continue to get stronger with the release of the iPhone5. The iPhone is one stylish smartphone. It has been the handset of choice for the “hipper” among us for some time, but there is something to give one pause about getting one. Namely, they are delicate, a fussbudget, and expensive to fix, as one study estimates upward of $5.9 billion has been spent on iPhone repairs since the phone was launched in 2007.

flick off the ribbon cable for the on/off button and leave it a while to see if it happens again, if it does - logic board, if it don't button/ribbon flex. Thats where I'd make a start anyways.
I'd disagree about them being hard to fix (logic board excepted obviously) iphones/pods/pads are my bread and butter now I don't do many 360's. If the logic board is okay then you can fix every other part, all parts are available and all are cheap. I am far far less exposed to warranty returns with an iphone over an xbox 360, all the hipster kids have em and they all get dropped smashing the screen. I sort of thought its a ready market out there, move on, adapt or get left behind.

iPhone has many issues. It's kinda tiring but we have to deal with it especially because it's our choice to have this kind of phone and it's our responsibility to take care of it and make sure it doesn't get broken easily. Being stylish is an expensive habit. The cell phone preferred by the “hipper” in our midst is without doubt the iPhone and while certainly fashionable and so forth, it's also a bit of a fussbudget as $5.9 billion has been spent on iPhone fixes since 2007. A will help you pay for your phone bill this month.
