Non Contact Voltage Detector

Postby D4Rk » Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:56 pm

I was wondering if any of you use one of these when working on monitors and tvs?
If so, how well do they work?

I have never used one honestly but figured it may be worth adding to my tool kit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am learning new stuff everyday and want to further my knowledge.

I have used them for AC never DC and they work pretty well. I have yet to try one for dc or any kind of board level work... I usually use my handy ohm meter

Yeah. I use my multimeter alot I just thought it may be handy to have a NC voltage detector for checking power sources without having to get to close to high voltage points.
I have been shocked way to many times.
Last week I got hit by 110v from a backlight transformer.
