PS4 Slim problem with drive, will not take in disk

Postby Roaddog » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:27 pm

Received a PS4 slim with disk drive not taking in disks, the laser works and tries to read disc at boot up.I have checked all the locations i could find marked F----- and all have continuity, I compared values between non working board and working board and all are the same in the area around the BD7764MUV chip. My understanding is this chip controls the drive motor. Anybody have an Ideas on where to look next? I have also tried another disc drive with the same results. Is it possible the BD7764MUV chip has failed?
Would it show shorted on some pins?

Type the PS4 model number and the motherboard marking code.

What about the fuses on the main board? Are they ok as well?

Solved. Transistor was blown in the circuit.

Replaced with one from a PS3 and it's working.

I forgot I had replaced a blown fuse and it still didn't work so I set aside. I traced out where everything went and all pointed to the 3 transistors and likely the issue.
The transistor metered out ok but I decided to remove it to test and that's when I saw the leg was blown off.
