PS4 fat does not turn on, no lights, no beep... Dead?

Postby MadMaxGR » Wed Oct 25, 2017 5:50 pm

I have found some mainboard schematics here, published from one another community user, which are are for SAB board revision but mine is SAA. These two revisions are 99% similar, so I gave it a go to test the power traces.

I have already checked the power supply, it works on another PS4 and the fuses stated on the board (Fxxxx) passed the continuity test.

I can locate 2V, 3.3V and 5V traces on the board when the power supply is hooked on it but the touch sensitive power button does not respond.

I cannot locate any component to have 12V.
Why I cannot trace 12V, not even on the power supply's two rods?
Why the power button does nothing when I touch it?

I am sure something is blown or shorted, but what???

Note: I have noticed that the two power rods on the board are have continuity from within the board layers. Is it normal? I must open another PS4 to check.

Hello!

12V should appears after pressing on the power button. In your case the power button does not react, so it is no problem at all with 12V power supply.

Start with resoldering "Syscon" chip (drag the solder all over the pins). Don't forget to remove the CMOS battery first.
The "Syscon" chip looks like that:

Ive seen the Ethernet controller IC cause this issue (among other things) but this more often. Check the nearby capacitors for shorts. They are right near the Ethernet IC.
