Looking for firmware IC chip swap on ps4 bluray board in US

Postby kugotsumin » Mon Mar 06, 2017 7:43 am

Basically my ps4 won't eject and receive discs, I can put a disc in with the magnet on and it will play fine. I'm told swapping the IC chip on the bluray logic to a new one will fix the problem. I already desoldered the chip on the new board but I'm worried so I'd like a skilled veteran to finish the job. I'm on the east coast in the US, can provide pics if you need. Thanks

Is this pretty much not worth anyone's time?

did you remove the IC or not?
Check first for any damaged fuses

I oly removed the IC on the new board. Here's the new board to be xfered to, do the pads seem good?

and I don't know what to look for with fuses here's a shot of the old board

and the underside

I would assume i could test the fuses with a multimeter but I don't know which of these tiny components are fuses. Honestly that doesn't seems like it would be easier to fix than just taking the firmware chip and soldring it to a new board.

Yes, you can swap the Renesas chip from old BRD board to the new one, or try to repair the old board.
Like @3absiso said first check fuses.
Fuses are highligted at the following picture. Check it with multimeter; it should be shorted.

One gives a .6 on the lowest Ohms setting , and one gives a .4-.5

edit: the same readings on both sets of fuses on both boards. So I'm back to my original request, can someone in the US solder an IC chip to a new BRD board for me? Plox? I mean not for free obviously, I'll pay you like 30 bucks.
