I remove those epoxy GPU stand-off's during the pre-heat phase, (normally around 100c) with a Toothpick they just slide off...

Best thing I've found are those great FREE Macy d's coffee stir's and the air wand ;)

Toothpick like DNinja on PH phase is the best tool for me currently.
