There are lots of posts on other forums about programming the PC410 hitting send and parts of the profile being corrupted with individualssteps being wrong or the profile only being changed for so many steps and the existing profile remaining for the subsequent steps. A Serial port works on changes in voltages but a USB port carries 5V so any glitch such as another USB being powered up or down can cause errors. I haven't used a converter with the HR 6000 but from past experience rs 232 converters are really flakey they can work perfectly one minute and send completely the wrong signal the next.

Yeh I just use the controller it's really easy to use and it automatically saves the profile as you enter it.

Its easy to use, slap preheat on and set first top step to 1.00/190/600 and time how long before tc reaches 190 topside and thats your first dwell, then repeat for 200/210/225 and job done.

Or keep top arm out the way and run a preheat cycle but imo its not needed as hot air is so fast you can get in and out without damaging the bga package.

just a little note on this machine, the software uses the following for its curves:

curve 1: top heater actual output temp

curve 2: external omega tc monitoring

ill try and get some screen shots up later displaying this :)
